In response to a question posted on my Facebook page I am going to talk a little bit about coupon stacking. Coupon stacking is when you take a manufacturer's coupon and combine it with a store coupon saving yourself even more money. Coupons can be tricky with their wording making it difficult to navigate coupon stacking at first. However once you master it the savings are well worth taking the time to learn!
Let me go ahead and explain what some of that pesky fine print means on the bottom of coupons. And I will give examples for each using Rayovac Batteries through out to keep it consistent :-)
When a coupon reads limit one coupon per purchase it means you can only use one manufacturer's coupon per item. For example you can't use two $1/1 Rayovac coupons on the SAME pack of batteries! However if you have 5 packs of batteries you CAN use 5 $1/1 coupons in this instance. When I first started couponing I thought that phrase meant I could only buy one of the item and be able to use a coupon! Was I ever glad when I found out that wasn't the case.
Some coupons will have limits to how many like items you can purchase in one transaction. If that is the case the coupon may state something like "Limit of 4 like coupons in same shopping trip." This means you could only buy 4 pack of Rayovac batteries and be able to use the coupon. If you bought 5 you would pay full price for the 5th pack.
If you have a Rayovac manufacturer's coupon and a store coupon and the store coupon states "cannot be combined with any other offers" this mean any other store coupon for either a percent off or dollar off. You can still combine that store coupon with a manufacturer's coupon but NOT another type of store coupon! For example if it was Rite Aid and you used your $1/1 Rayovac Manufacturer's coupon and a $1/2 Rayovac store coupon you would not be able to use a $1/1 video values coupons as well!
The last few lines of a coupon usually state the rules and laws and they are pretty standard on all manufacturer's coupons. They usually are writing like this "Coupons are not authorized if purchasing for resale. Void if transferred, sold, auctioned, reproduced, or altered from original. Any other use constitutes fraud. You may pay sales tax."
I have yet to find a store that won't let you stack a manufacturer's coupon with a store one! And many stores will let you use 2 coupons when items are B1G1 free. For example if Market Basket had Rayovac on sale Buy 1 at $4.99 get another free you would be able to use 2 $1/1 coupons! Making it only $2.99 for 2 packs of batteries!
Check your favorite stores policy to see if your allowed to stack! And most importantly its crucial to abide by all the terms stated in the fine print on our coupons! We wouldn't ever steal from the store so we certainly wouldn't want to steal using our coupons fraudulently! Now that you know what that fine print means we can make sure we use our coupons correctly.
So go hurry and check your store website for in store coupons before you shop to make sure that your not missing out on an opportunity to stack your coupons!!!!
